by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. ini came to this site via freeminds.com and am really quite surprised to learn that this site is maintained by active jw's (am i correct?
- i'm a slow learner).
i get the feeling i maybe getting the shun treatment, which is okay, for i understand that for the mindset from which it originates.

Let's tone down the America / War topics and get back on track
by Simon infurther to this topic:.
suggestion: should we stop threads discussing america?.
i have decided that it may be better if we call a halt to the topics about america and the war in general.. there is more background info in that topic but the key points are:all these topics are distracting from the main purpose of the board.

One thing that saddens me is how some posters call other posters stupid, moron, dumbasses, no brains, and other nasty comments just because they don't agree with them on this war. It saddens me because we got out of the Society where your personal opinion couldn't be expressed on any topic. (Unless you were an elder or elders wife of course). Of course the people on this board are going to have all sorts of different opinions. But, IMHO, there are the few "verbal bullies" who make it impossible for other less vocal posters to express their opinion, either pro or con, on this subject.

tKingdom Melodies I remember/liked.
by ScoobySnax inok bucking the trend here, but there was some kms i liked, alot of stick has been given to "gods loyal love"....well i liked that one.
nice melody.. i think song 4 "gods promise of a paradise" too.
and song number 15 "life without end at last".....remember this was in the brown book....still like that one, especially at conventions, always guaranteed to be on the sunday programme, still get teary eyed at that one.. what i want to know is what happened to "keep your eyes on the prize"....i can remember writing those words out on a sheet and hanging it in my room, surely the classic jw kingdom melody of all time...guaranteed at conventions circa 70's/80/s......still miss it, and hum it even now occasionaly.

Athanasius: I think the song you are referring to is Forward you Witnesses.
(From memory)
Firm and determined in this time of the end
Prepared are Gods servents the good news to defend.
Something something undaunted
Something something ?????
Then forward you witnesses ever strong of heart
Something something something
Go tell far and wide God's new order is near
and something about rich blessings will be here.
(hey it's been a while since I had to sing that one).
But, one of my favorites has always been Fear them not!!
Supposedly, it was written by a brother in a concentration camp.
Singing that song while knowing the history behind it always gave me a shiver in my spine -

Ballistic: Actually, in the States, the cellular phone frequencies are locked out on all scanners. Some older models can be modified to receive cell phone frequencies, but I couldn't think of anything more boring to listen to. "Hey honey, can you pick up a gallon of milk on the way home? Thanks, Love You!!!" Scanners are great to listen to fire, police, coast guard, airports, mall security, etc. It let's me know what's actually going on in the neighborhood. For example, When we lived in an apartment, I was going to go out and walk our dog. I had the scanner on and heard that a pizza guy got robbed about a block away from where I was. Pretty cool to actually know what is really going on in your neighborhood. CB's unfortunatly, went the way of the 8-track. Started out with a bang then just fizzled out.

Then & Now
by RAYZORBLADE ini think this post may be an absolute: no brainer
personally, when i was an active naive jw, i studied the bible and could rattle scriptures off, left right and centre.
real good fundie.

Hooberus comments are typical for the fundie christians. These people have never, ever, been JW's and, as Larc said, never went through what we went through. After I left the witnesses, I had my stint with the born again fundies. Let me tell you, they are JUST AS BAD as the witnesses. When I first started going to a particular fundie church, I made the mistake of telling them I was an ex-jw. Hoo-boy, these people wanted to debate me right then and there, like I still had to defend the JW faith. Then they would go as far as to actually say that JW's worship the Devil. WTF? Worship the Devil??? How Judgemental can one be? Some fundies, especially those who are of the super-christian class, are just as bad as elders wives. Now, that's pretty bad!!!!
